For a guy who threw the toys out of the pram when he didn’t get the move he wanted this summer, Dedryck Boyata did his chances of catching the eye of another club no good at all with his performance at Ibrox.

I think he has done pretty well since that whole debacle at the end of the summer transfer window but he had an absolute shocker against Rangers.

There is no getting away from it.

He looked nervous on the ball, couldn’t pass it two feet in front of him and was all over the place. As I have said, he was not alone on that front.

It is the first time since Brendan Rodgers has arrived at Celtic that you could say they looked nervous and intimidated in a league game.

But with Boyata out of contract at the end of the season and in a position now to go and speak to other parties I am not too sure that he will be wanting that performance to be seen by too many.

Like I say, he wasn’t alone. But this break in Dubai needs to be used to get everyone properly back – and that means focused as much mentally as being prepared physically.

I still feel confident that Celtic will go on and win the league but you have to back up that conviction with a certain level of performance.
