TRANSPORT cops have appealed for help in identifying a young man who was killed after he was hit by a train in Mount Florida.

It comes after we reported that officers were called to the station after a body was found by rail staff on Wednesday. The man, believed to be in his twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene. His fatal injuries are consistent with him being struck by a train.

Finger print checks have been carried out by officers but they have been unable to identify him and inform his family.

He was sallow skinned, slim, had black cropped hair, stubble and a goatee beard. He was wearing a red baseball cap, black jumper with a silver motif, blue jeans and black boots. He also had Eqyptian themed tattoos on both arms.

Detective Inspector Brian McAleese, from British Transport Police, said: “We are urgently trying to identify this man so we can locate his family and provide them with any support they need. If anyone knows someone matching the above description, I would urge you to contact us as soon as possible.

“The man was last seen on CCTV near to Mount Florida station at approximately 3.50pm on December 31. Again, anyone who saw this man, or knows who he is then please get in touch.”
