Timothy Weah is expected to hook up with Brendan Rodgers' side in Dubai this week as the American internationalist closed in on a six-month loan deal with Celtic.

The 18-year-old striker signed an extension to his PSG deal on Saturday that commits him to his parent club until 2021.

Signing the extension to his deal held up his loan to Celtic, but it is anticipated that the striker will formalise his move to Glasgow within the next 24-48 hours.

With Leigh Griffiths sidelined indefinitely, Rodgers has made no secret of his wish for two strikers in this window. The teenager, son of Ballon d'Or winner George, has struggled to make an impact under PSG boss Thomas Tuchel this season, managing just two Ligue 1 appearances and none since mid-August.

He has been capped eight times for the USA with Amiens, Strasbourg, Rennes, Cannes, Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart were all keen on taking him on loan for the remainder of the season.

Meanwhile, Celtic are also confident of landing Ivory Coast forward Vakoun Issouf Bayo. The Parkhead side had an initial offer of £1.75m knocked back for the striker from Slovakian side Dunajska Streda but have upped their offer for the 21-year-old. The striker's social media activity this weekend suggested that he appears confident of sealing a move.

It comes after Scotland internationalist Olivier Burke agreed a six-month loan with Celtic this weekend.
