A second security guard working in Glasgow's East End has been targeted in less than four days.

Police were called to the Clydesdale Bank on Shettleston Road around 6.20pm on Sunday after the thieves struck.

A man believed to be a security guard was robbed outside the bank of an unknown amount of money.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "We were called around 6.20pm to a report of a man being robbed outside a bank on Shettleston Road.

"Emergency services attended."

It is the second incident of its kind in a matter of days after a G4S worker was attacked with weapons and robbed outside the Royal Bank of Scoltand on Duke Street.

At around 2.30pm on Friday, a 51-year-old security guard was approached by two men and threatened with weapons.

The Evening Times understands one of the weapons the men brandished was an axe.

Following the attack, the men ran off with the guard's cash box containing a five-figure sum of money.

The suspects escaped in a small, silvered-coloured vehicle which was set alight shortly after on Myreside Street. It is thought they then got into a black 4x4 vehicle.

The security guard was uninjured but was left 'extremely distressed' by the incident.

Officers say one suspect is described as white, around 5ft 8in tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black hooded top, black jogging trousers and a scarf covering his face.

The other suspect is described as white, around 5ft 8in, of slim build, and he was wearing dark clothing and a dark hat.
