FORMER Rangers and St Johnstone winger Michael O’Halloran’s Australian dream turned into a nightmare.

And now the 28-year-old is on the hunt for a new club just seven months after penning a two-year deal with Melbourne City.

His sudden availability during the transfer window will have several top flight clubs on alert.

O’Halloran clocked-up just three appearances from the bench for the A-League outfit after being cursed by injuries after his summer switch Down Under.

The attacker, who thrived under boss Tommy Wright during two spells with St Johnstone, had been tracked by Motherwell before opting for a two year deal with the Australian side.

He managed just 29 starts for Rangers after Mark Warburton was tempted to splash £500,000 for the speed merchant, who had impressed in a two-year spell with Saints.

The former Scotland U21 star, who began his career at Celtic before a move to Bolton, returned to the Melbourne match day squad recently after recovering from a niggling hamstring injury.

But boss Warren Joyce opted to release his 2018 marquee signing and look around for another foreign frontline recruit.
