TEN large scale paintings depicting the story of Tam o’Shanter by Robert Burns are to be permanently housed in Glasgow’s Oran Mor.

Renowned artist Nichol Wheatley has spent two years creating the series to mark the 260th birthday of Scotland’s national bard.

The canvases will be unveild in the Victorian and Whisky bar of the West End venue on Monday.

Tam o’ Shanter” was written by Burns in 1790, while living in Dumfries. It was first published in 1791, and is one of Burns’ longer poems, employing a mixture of Scots and English.
