Another step has been made in the creation of new houses and offices on a derelict Govan site.

A contract worth around £14.5 million has been awarded for work on the former Hill's Trust School site on Nethan Street.

CCG (Scotland) Ltd of Cambuslang will carry out the work for Elderpark Housing Association.

The build will include seventy flats and 12 houses for rent on the former site.

Sixty-seven of the flats will be in a continuous block over three, four and four-and-a-half storeys.

In addition, there will be three two-storey blocks containing terraced houses and 'cottage' flats.

The B-listed former Hill’s Trust School building at Golspie Street will be turned into new offices for Elderpark Housing Association.

As well as internal and external alterations, a single storey rear extension will be built.

A design statement for the plans reads: " Currently the Hills Trust Site lies vacant, being used by dog walkers who access through the old school gates.

"The reactivation of the site will reintroduce the residential street front which previously existed on this street block."

The housing association have previously stated: “This move will both save an iconic local landmark steeped in history and enable us to bring all our staff together to provide a more comprehensive service to our customers.”
