THE Glasgow Airport rail link saga has dragged on for far too long.

It is time for a decision on when this vital project will get started and what form it will take.

There has been time to digest the report about the impact on the wider network and find solutions to make it work.

The money is there from the city deal so resources are not an issue. The airport is backing it, as are businesses in Glasgow and Renfrewshire, who are suffering due to congestion on the M8.

Transport Scotland and the Scottish Government have been challenged repeatedly to state backing for the link but have not been forthcoming with a clear commitment. 

The City Deal was approved almost five years ago and still this, a flagship project, is yet to get started.

We need the councils and Transport Scotland to get together and announce the rail link will happen and tell us when.
