A MAN has appeared in court charged with a six year campaign of “serious organised crime” said to have taken place across the world.

Joseph Lindsay, 34, is accused of “directing other to commit offences aggravated by a connection with serious organised crime”, between December 2011 and January 2018.

The alleged crimes are said to have been carried out in various addresses in East Kilbride, Chapelhall, Cambuslang and Wishaw.

Some are alleged to have been carried out in Iceland, Dubai, Amsterdam, Spain, Hong Kong, Mexico and Columbia.

Lindsay, appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court today to face 28 charges spanning between December 2011 and June 2018.

He made no plea when he was represented by Graeme Brown, and was remanded in custody by sheriff Sean Murphy QC.

The charges include allegedly being involved in importation of controlled drugs, abduction and assault, firearms and supplying weapons for the purpose of violence.

He faces a charges of being concerned in the supply of drugs and, while acting with others, concealing £1.54million and $116,450 of criminal money.

Lindsay also allegedly reset a number of cars, attempted to defeat the ends of justice and committed a number of firearms charges.

He is due to appear at a full committal hearing next week.
