A COMMUNITY garden has been targeted by vandals in a mindless weekend attack.

Thugs used green spray paint to tag Craigton Community Garden as well as nearby garages and a close door.

Craigton Residents' Action Group posted about the vandalism on Facebook and asked for locals to "be vigilant" in looking out for the culprits.

Painted tags on the close door, at a property on Barlogan Avenue, and on the other sites read 'Govan Team'.

The residents' group said two men were spotted at the scene and, as well as carrying out the graffiti attack, were also seen shouting at a passing motorist.

Witnesses said the two men looked to be in their twenties.

One was wearing a black puffa jacket with dark trousers or jogging bottoms while the other was wearing a black hoodie top.

Craigton Community Garden was developed from waste land in 2013 with support from Glasgow Housing Association.

GHA locality director Joanne Diamond said:  “We know how much residents enjoy this garden and we are really disappointed to hear that it has been vandalised.

"Our environmental team has already been out to help Craigton Community Action Group and the council’s Environmental Taskforce to get the garden cleared up as soon as possible.

"Police officers from our Community Improvement Partnership (CIP) will support local police to find those responsible."
