As previously reported by the Evening Times, one man was seriously assaulted and three women were threatened with weapons including an axe during the spate of robberies between 6.45pm and 7.45pm across the West End.

Following the robberies on Monday evening, police engaged in a short car chase with the suspects before the vehicle crashed and they both attempted to flee the scene.

Officers managed to apprehend one suspect while enquiries to trace the other are still ongoing.

The spate of crime is not thought to be part of a bigger problem in the area.
