THE body of a man has been recovered from the River Clyde.

Police were called to Customhouse Place, Greenock at 11.35am yesterday after the grim discovery.

Enquiries are currently ongoing to establish the man's identity.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland told the Greenock Telegraph: “A post mortem will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death, however at this time there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”

A full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
