A van driver has died after crashing into a lorry parked in a lay-by.
The 35-year-old man was travelling on the A77 at Kilmarnock around 1.45pm on Thursday when he struck the parked vehicle.
The man, who was driving a Fiat Ducato van southbound near to the Meiklewood Interchange, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 27 year-old driver of the lorry was uninjured.
Constable John Denholm is appealing for witnesses.
He said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone who saw the Fiat Ducato van driving on the A77 before the crash happened.
"If anyone has dash-cam footage that may help our investigation, I would ask them to get in contact with officers.
“Anyone with information should contact Road Policing Officers at Irvine through 101 quoting reference number 1894 of 17th January 2019.”
