BAIN: Took the gloves from Craig Gordon for the Cup run. Drew the applause of the crowd when he brought down one high ball with the inside of his foot but wider appreciation with a fabulous double save just before the break when the score was still just 1-0. Little else to do. (8)

RALSTON: In at right-back in the absence of Mikael Lustig and worked his socks off. Deserved to take his man of the match award for an industrious display. (8)

BOYATA: One timely intervention on Leighton McIntosh midway through the opening period and then slipped the ball through for Timothy Weah to net a debut goal. (7)

BENKOVIC: Back after picking up an injury at Ibrox three weeks ago. Not an overly busy afternoon for the defender as Celtic spent most of the game camped inside Airdrie’s half. (7)

IZAGUIRRE: Incensed the Airdrie players when he was fouled by Christopher O’Neil but looked like a legitimate penalty call. (7)

FORREST: Cut the ball back for Burke in the build-up to the opening goal and generally involved in stretching the game and keeping Airdrie under pressure as they struggled to get out of their own half. (7)

MCGREGOR: Back to his more comfortable position in the middle of the park. Brought out a save from Hutton just after the restart but plenty of energy and involved at the heart of the majority of Celtic’s attacking moves. (8)

BROWN: Involved in a heated exchange of views with Sean Crighton in the aftermath of Izaguirre being brought down as he jumped to the defence of his team-mate. Strolled through the game. (7)

CHRISTIE: Swerving first-half free-kick which was tipped over the bar by Hutton but put in his usual shift as he played just behing Burke. (7)

SINCLAIR: Had a 31st minute penalty saved but could have had a hat-trick. Netted twice and but for an erroneous call in the second period he would have gone home with the match ball. (8)

BURKE: Made his starting debut for the club in the forward position given the continued absence of Odsonne Edouard. Was the Scotland internationalist’s first start since August and rustiness showed at time. Sclaffed shot was parried by the keeper and rebound turned in for the opening goal. (7)

WEAH: On for Sinclair for the last 22 minutes and didn’t just find the net but seemed to lift the energy of Celtic when he arrived into the fray. Looks like an interesting signing. (6)

JOHNSTON: Replaced Forrest and another who looked bright for the time he was on the park. Lively and keen to get involved. (6)

BITTON: On for Brown as he made his first appearance in almost a year after knee ligament damage. (5)
