MOTORISTS on a major Glasgow motorway are facing further disruption this morning after a car fire on the M8.

Drivers have been warned to be aware if travelling on the route.

As reported by the Evening Times, traffic has already encountered major disruption as a result of the current weather conditions.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called just before 10am to a car fire which took place on the route westbound at junction 24 Helen Street.

Traffic is coping with the disruption, but Traffic Scotland has warned road users to be aware and check for any further changes.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were alerted at 9.33am to reports of a vehicle on fire in Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised one fire engine to the M8, between Dumbreck Road and Helen Street, where firefighters extinguished the fire which had taken hold of a single vehicle.

“There were no casualties.

“Firefighters left the scene after ensuring the area had been made safe.”

The off-slip was opened again at 11.30am.
