A CARELESS driver who knocked down a woman then blamed another man for her injuries was caught out when the incident was captured on camera.

Charnjit Gosal, 45, ploughed in to Nadia Sattar, who later died, on February 10, 2017 at Nithsdale Road.

She moved her seven-seater Volkswagen Touran and opened her driver’s door.

Ramzan Javed, driving behind her, had to move to avoid Gosal - then hit Miss Sattar and dragged her along the ground.

Gosal then claimed 43-year-old Miss Sattar fell in front of her car and shouted at Mr Javed: “You shouldn’t have overtaken me, I had my hazards on.”

But, when police checked footage from a nearby house, they saw her hit Miss Sattar first and knock her onto the road.

Gosal, from Pollokshields, pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to causing the death of Miss Sattar by careless driving, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Defence counsel John McElroy said: “For the carelessness of the accused in striking Miss Sattar, the family of Nadia Sattar would not have suffered the tragic loss of their dearly beloved family member.

“For that, she apologises unreservedly.”

Sheriff Norman Ritchie QC commented that, from watching the footage, “it’s clear” Mr Javed was exceeding the speed limit.

He deferred sentence for reports and disqualified Gosal from driving in the interim and continued her bail.
