COMMUTERS have been warned to take care as they make their way for the evening.

The second yellow warning for snow and ice of the day is currently in place, with the Met Office urging motorists and pedestrians alike to approach with caution as they travel home.

Forecasters say roads and railways are likely to be affected with "longer journey times by road, bus and train services".

While some low priority roads, pavements and cycle paths are likely to have untreated ice patches.

Slips and falls are also to be expected throughout the city.

Slow moving traffic has been reported at Berryknows Road, close to the A739 at Cardonald train station, due to temporary traffic lights.

A section of the busy M74 has been closed southbound at the junction six Hamilton off-slip due to a serious road crash.

The Motherwell slip remains open, however, traffic is slow in the area.

Drivers trapped on the off-slip is to be turned around.

Meanwhile, First Bus has to divert its 812 service due to the crash as there's no access to the A721 Hamilton Road.

The bus will now follow the normal route to Raith Interchange, continue onto the A725 at the Belshill by pass before exiting at Belziehill roundabout.

It will go on to Old Edinburgh Road before turning right into Sixth Street and beginning it's usual route from there.

Traffic is queuing on the M8 from junction 16 Craighall to junction 20 Kingston Bridge and junction 25a Breahead to junction 16 Hillington heading westbound.

While eastbound junction 26 Hillington to junction 24 Helen Street and junction 21 Seaward Street to junction 16 Craighall is also heavy.
