A BAILLIESTON boy has taken the television world by storm in the BBC hit Shieldinch.

Ty McPhee took on the role of Callum Adams in the soap favourite in July last year and so far, his character has taken the turn of a "twister and messed up kid".

The 11-year-old school pupil auditioned for the role when he was just nine years old with no acting training behind him.

But he's quickly become a fan favourite, with viewers keen to see what happens next after Callum returns to the fictional town following his stint in a juvenile detention centre.

Proud mum Ashley Henderson said:‘’ As a mother of three I’m so proud to watch by boy on screen every week. Its been his life long dream, its all we have ever heard come of out of Ty’s mouth.

"So for him to be 11 and smashing the story lines he is makes me very excited for his future.

"Sometimes, watching Ty playing the twisted character of Cal, it's hard to watch, but both he and I know it just the start of his acting career’’

Now Ty attends one of Scotlands leading performing arts schools where he hopes to grow and develop his skills in order to push his career to the next level.
