EMERGENCY services remain on the scene after working through the night to tackle a blaze near Ibrox Stadium. 

Police and fire crews were called to Broomloan Road around 11.45pm on Friday, February 1 to a 'well-developed' blaze.

Thick smoke could be seen in the area and it is believe the building on fire is for commercial use.

There are no reported casaulties and the road remains closed.  

Police and Fire and Rescue Service teams remain on the scene, and fans travelling to Ibrox for the Rangers and St Mirren match are being urged to take alternative routes. 

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 11.45pm on Friday, February 1 to reports of a fire within a commercial building in Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised a number of fire engines to Broomloan Road where firefighters were faced with a well-developed fire.

“There are no casualties and the fire is now under control.

“Crews will remain on scene for some considerable time.”

A Police spokesperson said: "Please be aware that Broomloan Road in Ibrox is currently closed between Broomloan Place and Orton Place/Woodville Street due to a fire at a commercial building.

"No vehicles or pedestrians are allowed between these points, however there is still access into Ibrox Business Park.

"We would urge anyone travelling to the Rangers v St Mirren game this afternoon to take an alternative route as the roads will be closed for some time."
