THE funeral of murder victim Billyjoe Bates will take place this weekend, more than two months after his brutal murder.

The 28-year-old was found seriously injured in Milton's Ashfield Street at its junction with Kippen Street at around 2.30pm on Sunday, November 18.

He was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he died in the early hours of Thursday, November 22.

Close pal and reality star James English took to social media to announce the news alongside a snap of the pair and another friend.

He wrote: Memories in Amsterdam.

"Billyjoe's funeral will be at 10am this Saturday at Possilpark Parish Church on Saracen Street then on to Lambhill Crematorium."

Police are still hunting for Billyjoe's killer and a £10,000 reward has been offered for information which will lead to an arrest in the case.

Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Chow, from Police Scotland’s Major Investigations Team, said: "I am appealing for people to come forward with any information which could help us find whoever is responsible for this brutal murder.

“Billyjoe was found seriously injured in a residential street in the middle of the afternoon and I believe that someone must know what happened to him.

“Whether you have information about where Billyjoe was prior to him being found injured, or if you saw or heard anything at all out of the ordinary in the area of Ashfield Street and Kippen Street, please do the right thing and get in touch. The slightest detail could be important and I would urge anyone with information to contact us."

Witnesses are asked to contact police on 101.
