THE Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a cat was abandoned outside a Ladbrokes shop in Clydebank.
The charity was alerted on February 4 after a member of the public spotted a cat carrier under a bench on Lennox Place.
Scottish SPCA inspector Laura McIntyre said: “This little cat is lucky he was spotted by a concerned member of the public.
“We are unsure how long he was there for and we are keen to find the person responsible for abandoning him.
“He is a very timid, entirely black, unneutered male and the staff at our centre in Dumbarton have named him Lenny.
“If anyone in the area recognises him or has any information on who may have abandoned Lenny, we would urge you to call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006. Anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
