RESIDENTS in Glasgow and its surrounding areas are waking up this morning to heavy rain as much of Scotland prepares to be battered by strong winds.
The downpours are expected to last throughout most of Friday as the Met Office warns of strong gusts on Saturday.

A yellow weather warning for wind from the national weather service will come into effect just after midnight on Saturday, lasting until 3pm.

The Met Office said: “A spell of strong winds will push from west to east through the day, bringing potential travel disruption.
“Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely, as are delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges.
“Some short-term loss of power and other services is possible, and it’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves.”
