PEOPLE who live in the Calton area are being asked how they want £200,000 to be spent tackling child poverty.

The funds have been made availably by Glasgow City Council money to create new services and activities for families.

A group of local people, Calton W9 PB Resident’s Panel, have been working since autumn 2018 to shape the process, and to ensure that the cash will benefit local children and families as much as possible.

They are now inviting organisations and individuals from the community to submit their ideas, which will go to a public vote by February 25th 2019.

Mary MacPherson, who is a panel member, said:.”I look forward to seeing lots of bright ideas coming forward from across the whole Calton community.”

Two drop-in community meetings are being held on Monday February 11 at Calton Heritage and Learning Centre, London Road from 2pm - 6.30pm and Wednesday February 13 at The Charter, Tollcross Road from 2pm - 7pm

Glasgow City Council has made £1m available to be allocated before the end of April 2019 in a number of wards across the city.
