FIREFIGHTERS have dashed to the Gorbals after an explosion this morning, according to reports.
Several appliances were in attendance after an incident at a substation on Waddell Court.
The New Gorbals Housing Association was also said to be in attendance amid reports that there was a power outage for a period of time in the area.
It is understood the situation was quickly brought under control.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman told the Evening Times: “We were alerted at 8.51am to reports of smoke emitting from an electrical substation at Waddell Court, Glasgow.
“Operations control immediately mobilised two fire engines where a small fire was extinguished.
“Crews left the scene after ensuring it was made safe.”
A New Gorbals Housing Association spokeswoman confirmed there had been a “disturbance” at a Scottish Power substation.
She said four multi-storeys and maisonettes had experienced power loss which was later restored.
Scottish Power said: “There was a fault in the area which has now been resolved.”
