SINGER Tom Walker’s Brit-nominated international smash hit single “Leave A Light On” has been given an unexpected new life after he performed it on Glasgow’s Buchanan Street.

Following the incredible reaction to the busking collaboration with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers in the City Centre two weeks ago, a brand new recording has today been released for fans to enjoy on repeat.

For a full year from today, every stream and download will benefit Nordoff Robbins which provides vital music therapy services across Scotland.

Cumbernauld-born Tom invited the Scottish ‘bagrock’ legends to put their own spin on the song during an impromptu lunchtime event on January 31 which was watched by a huge crowd at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall steps.

Video of the song quickly went viral on social media, with millions of views and overwhelming demand from fans for the spine-tingling new version to be released.

The momentum continued as Tom joined the Chilli Pipers on the pitch at Murrayfield before the Scotland vs Italy Six Nations match and for a live performance on BBC Scotland’s Quay Sessions with Roddy Hart the same weekend.

Now, just 14 days since playing the song together for the first time, thanks to the support of fans, the goosebump-inducing track has been released in aid of Nordoff Robbins.

The charity gave Tom his first-ever award, for UK Breakthrough Artist, at the Scottish Music Awards in 2017.

The Red Hot Chilli Pipers band leader Kevin MacDonald said: “As a band, we are extremely proud to have the opportunity to release this. Tom and his team have really embraced our ideas and let us develop the track with a full Chilli twist. One of our aims is to keep the pipes current, so to have the chance to perform with such a successful Scottish mainstream artist has been amazing.”

Tom added: “From the first time we played together, it was pretty special, but we never expected the next level reaction it’s had. Everything about this has been really spontaneous – we only rehearsed for the first time two hours before we were due to go busking together. Then two days later we were at Murrayfield doing it in front of 67,000 people – what a mental experience. Thanks to everyone for their support for the bagpipes version, I hope you like it.”

Tom is nominated in the British Single category at the 2019 BRIT Awards for ‘Leave A Light On’, and is the only Scot nominated for British Breakthrough.
