A YOUNG girl from Glasgow has won the hearts of the internet this week after the city came together to make her feel less “ashamed” about her new glasses.

Little Darcey Docherty, from the West End of the city, got some much-needed new specs - but was in need of some encouragement to wear them.

Her dad, James, turned to Twitter this week and posted a picture of the cute girl wearing her new pink glasses.

He wrote: “My wee girl has had to get glasses and she feels ashamed wearing them outside the house. Sure she’s beautiful.”

In just two days, the tweet has amassed close to 25,000 reactions as people from across the city - and beyond - sent in messages of support and kind words.

Dad James was so overwhelmed with the response that he later added: “Unbelievable the amount of Love and kindness that’s been thrown at this tweet, you’ve made a wee girls day, thank you so much.

“Hit me right in the feels watching her wee face seeing all the comments by people and kids with  glasses on.”

Never change, Glasgow. Never change.
