A 16-year-old was convicted of abducting, raping and killing Alesha has been found guilty at the High Court in Glasgow. 

The accused, who first appeared in court on December 10, now awaits sentencing following the trial.

During the trial Prosecutor Iain McSporran said this was “one of the worst cases” a jury has had to hear.

Alesha's mother Georgina said: “Words cannot express just how devastated I am to have lost my beautiful, happy, smiley wee girl."

Meanwhile, Police Scotland welcomed the decision following what they called a "senseless and barbaric murder".
