CELTIC fans have reacted to a banner which was held up during the team's clash with Hearts yesterday blasting manager Brendan Rodgers.

As previously reported, the object was held up by Hoops supporters while the team arrived at Tynecastle for their two - one win.

It read: "You traded immortality for mediocrity.

"Never a Celt. Always a fraud."

It comes after the Evening Times exclusively revealed Rodgers would leave the club for Leicester before the end of the season.

Neil Lennon is set to return to the helm of club later this year.

Both Celtic and Leicester fans alike have taken to Twitter to share their reaction to the banner.

One Leicester fan wrote: "It hurts to see this banner for Brendan Rodgers joining Leicester (a club who made it to the quarterfinals of the Champions League in 2017) and leaving Celtic (who haven’t made it that far since 1980)."

Prompting this retort from an angry Celtic fan: "So you've a few? That's nice to here you're on the way up.

"We've hundreds of supporters clubs all over the world.

"Doesn't matter where you go, you can go to a Celtic bar.

"You'll probably never go anywhere on holiday and not see Celtic fans whereas I've never seen a Leicester fan."

Another Hoops supporter wrote: "Brendan Rodgers was in the position millions could only of wished for.

"To stay for 10IAR would of made him immortal till the day he dies... Throwing that away to manage a club going nowhere is mad if you ask me."

One wrote: "Brendan Rodgers will raid Celtic btw Celtic fans banner last night was complacent. Especially after what he did for them."

Another fan went as far as to propose a banner referring to the manager as a "king rat".

He said: "Would it be wrong to start crowdfunding for an aeroplane banner to fly round Watfords stadium for 20 mins with a 'Brendan Rodgers, King Rat' banner?

But Hearts fans poked fun at the situation with their own banner, which read: "Brendan Rodgers is here for 10 in a row".

What do you think of the banner? Was it justified? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
