A GLASGOW teenager has died just months after welcoming a baby boy.

Courtney Newlands is understood to have passed away from complications caused by type one diabetes, which she has battled all her life, earlier this week.

She was just 19-years-old.

The former Rosshall Academy Pupil welcomed son Declan Junior nine weeks premature in September last year.

Two fundraising drives have now been set up to help the youngster's devastated family and tributes have begun to appear online.

One wrote: "We were sad to hear of the tragic and sudden death of Courtney, not to mention the heartbroken circumstances of leaving a young baby boy.

"Our sadness and heart goes out to Willie, Lorraine and all her family at this sad time.

"Our prayers & thoughts are with you all."

Another added: "She was a beautiful girl inside and out. RIP."

While a family member said: "My heart is torn. I love you, baby girl, so f****** much."

The fundraising page, titled Courtney's last goodbye, states: "We are raising money on behalf of Courtney Newlands family, to help raise money for her funeral.

"We are raising money for a beautiful young girl, who left behind a beautiful little boy who is only five months old.

"Courtney suffered all her life with type one diabetes. It’s hit the family hard, they didn’t except her to pass so soon after only just turning 19-years-old.

"Any money raised will go towards giving Courtney the send off she deserves and making sure her little boy has the life he deserves."

The teen's heartbroken mum Lorraine has also started an appeal online, with both initiatives brining in a total of £790 so far.
