Police descended on a residential street in Glasgow's south side following an altercation between two men.

Public order officers attended the incident on Muirshield Crescent around 9.10pm on Tuesday evening.

The street was cordoned off while police dealt with incident which left a 53-year-old man requiring hospital treatment.

Locals reported seeing around ten police cars on the scene and described it 'absolute chaos'.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police were called around 9.10om to a report of an altercation on Muirshield Crescent.

"A 53-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was treated and later released.

"A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident."
