A YOUNG man who was stabbed on a Glasgow bus during evening rush-hour had been trying to stop a group argument, police have said.

The Evening Times reported on Wednesday how a man had been rushed to hospital following reports of a stabbing on Renfield Street.

Police in Glasgow are now appealing for witnesses and have released more details on the events that led up to the attack.

The force has also issued details on the suspect they are looking to trace.

At around 5.25pm on Wednesday, March 6, a 22-year-old man was travelling on a Number 2 First Bus, from Faifley to Baillieston through Glasgow City Centre.

When the bus was in the vicinity of West George Street, the man tried to stop an argument between two females and a male which then resulted in him being assaulted by the male who then got off the bus at Renfield Street.

The 22-year-old victim was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he was treated for a puncture wound to his leg before being released.

The suspect is described as white, in his thirties with short black hair and was wearing a black Adidas jumper and denims.

Detective constable Alistair Donaldson at Glasgow City Centre CID said: “We are currently viewing CCTV footage to try and identify the suspect and establish where he may have gone after leaving the bus.

“We also know that there were other passengers travelling on the bus and we would like to speak to them as soon as possible.”
