POLICE are appealing for information after a car with false plates was found on fire in a layby.
The Nissan Qashqai was discovered off the A73 Stirling Road, near to Chapleton roundabout in Cumbernauld around 1.40am this morning.
Police discovered the car was stolen from Airthrey Avenue in Jordanhill on February 25 but had false plates, CE67 FLC, installed.

Detective Sergeant Clare Cassidy, Coatbridge CID, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen this vehicle between Monday, February 25, and the early hours of this morning.
“Anyone who has dash-cam footage from the A73 in the early hours of this morning may also have information that can help, we would urge you to look back.”
