SKY Sports star Jeff Stelling has condemned the recent spate of hooliganism across Scotland's football pitches - but warned there shouldn't be a "knee-jerk" reaction.
The 63-year-old - who visited Hampden for the first time earlier today to launch his latest walking challenge in honour of Prostate Cancer UK - warned a crackdown on offenders shouldn't cost thousands of rule-abiding fans to miss out.
It comes after a man admitted breach of the peace following a dispute with Rangers player James Taverneier during Friday's match and Aston Villa's Jack Grealish was punched in the neck by a pitch invader.
He said: "It's depressing. They have them in England and Scotland. But, we have to be careful not to over react.
"People are talking about clubs getting point deductions and closing stadiums. I can't see that as the way forward at all. Banning fans and individuals certainly is."

He added: "But we don't want to have a knee-jerk reaction, we don't want to end up watching football behind fences again."
The legendary journalist will visit both Ibrox and Parkhead when he returns to the city this summer for a massive four day marathon challenge.
Kicking off in Glasgow, Jeff and a few famous pals will join thousands of fundraisers to walk around the city in a bid to raise cash for Prostate Cancer UK.
He'll arrive on September 5 with the walk kicking off at Hampden before moving to Ibrox, Parkhead, Hamilton Academical and Motherwell FC grounds.
He said: "If you catch it early, it's one of the easiest forms of cancer to cure but men being men - and I'm from the north east of England but I'm sure the attitude in Scotland is just the same - they don't want to go to the doctor or see their GP, especially with anything below the wait.
"We're trying to get the message out there that that needs to change."
