NHS staff at Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth Hospital say they are facing a battle to leave the multi-storey carparks "several times a week" at the end of shifts due to rush hour congestion.

Workers told the Evening Times the car parks were 'at a standstill' on Tuesday evening with buses and emergency vehicles also affected by delays.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said road works, adverse weather and football traffic caused the delays.

One worker said: "It's crazy. Happening far too often. I'm stuck on 3rd floor and have a queue behind me. Whole hospital at a standstill. Buses and Emergency vehicles struggle too! Rush hour chaos.

"I saw one driver go down the up ramp in desperation."

A spokeswoman for NHSGGC said: "There were a number of issues which caused congestion for staff and the public leaving the site last night at peak times which were beyond our control.

"We understand that staff and the public were frustrated at the hold up but this was caused by road works the adverse weather and football traffic heading to Ibrox stadium."
