THE funeral of a 19-year-old new mum who died tragically in her Glasgow flat after apparently suffering complications due to diabetes will be held this weekend.

Courtney Newlands will be laid to rest at St Convals cemetery in Barrhead on Saturday after a service at St James Church in Pollok.

Courtney's family has asked mourners to wear royal blue for the funeral service. Family and friends are later invited to Pollok Inn at 12noon for a buffet and refreshments and karaoke "to send our love to heaven."

It is thought that Courtney may have suffered complications from Type 1 diabetes, caused by the pregnancy, but so far tests have not given medics any definite clues about the cause of her death, which is thought to have happened between the evening of Tuesday, February 19 and Wednesday, February 20.

The former Rosshall Academy Pupil welcomed son Declan Junior nine weeks premature in September last year.

A Facebook fundraising page has been set up to help the family with funeral costs called RIP Courtney, Fundraising for Lorraine Newlands.
