BUDGET hotel chain Travelodge has unveiled plans to open five new hotels in the city as part of a major £125million expansion in Scotland that will create more than 100 new jobs.
The company made the announcement at the opening of its seventh Glasgow hotel yesterday, close to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Govan.
Travelodge said the Glasgow expansion could generate £40million for the city through ‘third party investors’ and will create 125 new jobs.

Pascal Bamford, Travelodge District Manager for West Scotland said: “This is our seventh property in Glasgow but as the city is expected to lead economic growth in Scotland we are looking for a further five hotel sites in Glasgow to support demand as part of our bigger Scottish hotel expansion programme of 21 new hotel sites.
“Collectively this Scottish expansion programme would represent an investment of £125 million for third party investors and a job creation of 380 new jobs.”
