People should take extra care when making a journey and expect possible delays, with the weather already causing some disruption for drivers in Scotland.
The Met Office statement said: "Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, and an increased likelihood of accidents or injuries."
With snow expected to land on higher grounds and slush to remain on lower grounds, it's expected to remain bitterly cold for the remainder of the weekend.
