A SUPPORT worker who turned up to work smelling of alcohol and drove without a licence has been struck off.
Shaji Joseph was convicted of a number of motoring offence while working at three care homes across Glasgow.
In June 2016, he was convicted of driving with just a provisional licence and without insurance along Paisley Road West in November 2014.
Days after his conviction staff at Silverburn Care Ltd claimed he turned up to work smelling of booze and drove a car away from the site, despite instruction from managers.
He failed to disclose his convictions to the home and to employers Excellent Care Ltd.
Between June 2016 and February 2017, he also failed to disclose he had been charged with driving while disqualified and without insurance.
While in September 2017, while employed by H1 Healthcare Solutions Ltd, Joseph was convicted of driving along Netherplace Road and Dryburn Avenue while disqualified and without insurance.
Again he failed to notify his employers of the conviction.
The Scottish Social Services Council, who wiped Joseph of his registration yesterday, said: “By acting as you did, you were not honest, trustworthy or reliable, and you failed to communicate in an open, accurate and straightforward way.
“On 26 June 2016, you attended work smelling of alcohol and, initially, denied that you had been
drinking.
“This was neither trustworthy behaviour nor conduct to be expected of a reliable and dependable worker and must call into question your suitability to work in social services. “
Joseph’s various employers have been contacted for comment.
Silverburn Care Ltd could not be reached.
