Despite the drop, it still outperforms other schools in the local authority with Ardrossan Academy taking the bottom spot with 33 per cent.

Stewarton Academy has risen from fourth place last year to top East Ayrshire's rankings this year.

It saw 63 per cent of pupils leave school with three plus Highers, up from 50 per cent last year.

In South Ayrshire Prestwick Academy was the clear lead in the league table with 57 per cent of school leavers earning the three plus Highers attainment.

It also rose four places from last year, despite only gaining one extra percentage point from 56 per cent in 2018.

Ayr Academy performed at 26 per cent of pupils gaining three or more Highers, putting it bottom of South Ayrshire's league table.
