Armed police were called in to deal with a man brandishing a weapon and demanding Brendan Rodgers return to Celtic.

The 31-year-old was causing a disturbance at an address on Springbank Road around 11pm on Monday.

Armed police and negotiators were sent to the scene to talk the man down.

Among his demands, filmed and shared on social media, the man requested a bag of cans, Brendan Rodgers back and a job.

The man, who was later arrested and charged, also directed abuse at officers and shouted "f*** the system."

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police were called to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old man brandishing a weapon.

"Officers, including specialist officers and public order police, attended the scene and the man was detained around 12.10am.

"He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for assessment but has now been arrested and charged.

"He is due to appear before Paisley Sheriff Court today."
