A HOTEL in Glasgow - which used to be an old shipping company headquarters - is appealing for former workers to come forward for a treat and special tour.

Native Glasgow opened in the City Centre back in October after a multi-million pound conversion of the old HQ of the Anchor Line Shipping Company on St Vincent Place.

The Art Deco office building in which the hotel is based, just off Buchanan Street, was first built in 1906.

After suffering years of neglect, the building was eventually restored with many of the original features retained.

Now, Native staff are on the hunt for former Anchor Line employees to head along to the hotel for elevenses to eat and a tour of the refurbished apartments on Monday, March 25.

Staff want to give ex-workers the chance to see how the building has been restored to its former glory.

General manager of Native Glasgow, Gary White, said: “We were wandering around the building prior to opening and taking in all of the amazing original features. We then walked into apartment 1:03 and, when we saw the vaults, we started to speculate about what they held in there. Then we thought, ‘Let’s ask some of the people who used to work here. We’ll get to have them back, hear their stories and show them the transformation of the building’.”
