EMERGENCY services have rushed to a two-car crash on a busy South Side route. 

Police were called to the road traffic collision on Eglinton Street, at the junctions with Cook Street and Bedford Street, at around 10am on Thursday. 

It is believed that members of the public are being treated by ambulance staff at the scene. 

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police were called to a report of a two-car road traffic collision on Eglinton Street, Glasgow at 10am. 

"Emergency services are still at the scene."

As a result of the crash, the busy route was closed off and diversions put in place. 

However, this was reopened just after 11am. 

In a statement, Glasgow City Council said: "Due to a road traffic collision at the junction of Eglinton Street / Cook Street / Bedford Street, there will be road restrictions in place surrounding this junction until further notice. 

"Emergency Services are in attendance and road users should follow their direction.

"Drivers are advised to avoid this location where possible.

"Further Bulletins will be issued as more information becomes available."
