GLASGOW is set to land a brand new speakeasy - and, in line with tradition, its address will remain completely secret.

The concept will hit the city from this week and comes from the creative minds of bartenders Jamie Moran and Dave Salvadord Ali.

Jamie and Dave told the Evening Times the address of the new bar, called Wheesht, will not be revealed.

Guests will have to get in touch with the bar via phone, text or email and quote Wheesht’s daily changing password, which can be found on their social media, in order to be led down into the bar, located in the West End.

From there, the duo will make customers bespoke drinks with a “huge” attention on service.

Wheesh will operate without a drinks menu and Jamie and Dave will create drinks individually tailored to each and every guest from their knowledge of classic recipes and original ideas.

The bartenders - who host drinks podcast “Grapefruit and Cheese” - will ask their guests what their likes and dislikes are and base cocktails and drinks on their guests’ responses.

In turn, bosses say they are confident this will create a “unique and memorable experience” with the city’s bar crowd - with a few secret surprises set to unfold over each evening.

The bar’s name comes from the famous Scottish term to tell people to be quiet, playing ideally on the venue’s secret vibe and aim to be Glasgow’s go-to speakeasy.

Speakeasy bars first cropped up in prohibition times as secret locations where guests could still enjoy a drink, Jamie explained. He added: “Over the years, this style of bar has become synonymous with high-end drinking culture and exceptional service. These cores ideas have always been key to Dave and myself.”

Dave told us: “There’s a quote that Jamie always uses, ‘To bond, the best drink of the day was the drink he had in his head before the first drink of the day’. Wheesht will always be attempting to make that drink in your head.”

Wheesht opens on Wednesday, April 10. It will open each week, Wednesday to Sunday, from 5pm until 1am.
