A heavy police presence was spotted in Govanhill this evening on Allison Street, members of the public have said.
A number of police vans were spotted on the corner of Allison Street and Daisy Street around 9.15pm.
Members of the public said they saw police going into a store on the road, but would not confirm the reason for their presence.
Speculation on community groups from earlier in the day suggested a shop keeper may have been attacked by a group of young people.
Police Scotland confirmed there was an earlier shoplifting incident on Allison Street at around 8.15pm but did not confirm any operation was ongoing.
One eye witness said they had left the scene around 9.40pm.
