OWNERS of a dentist surgery in the north of Glasgow hope to relocate across the street in a bid to benefit the local community.

Tiwari Watson Dental Care, which currently operates at Springburn Road wants to move into a dwellinghouse opposite.

It is claimed the current surgeries are too small making it difficult for wheelchair users.

If permission is granted the practice will be able to take on new patients as well as a sheltered bicycle shed.

Also included in the plans is staff-only parking to the left hand side of the property.

In his letter to the council’s planning committee applicant Joseph Watson states: “We have been hoping to expand for some time now as our current premises is too small.

“The surgeries are cramped and difficult to manoeuvre in, particularly for wheelchair users. Our reception and waiting area are the same room, with adjoining doors and thin walls between the surgeries.

“This causes issues for patient confidentiality/privacy. We believe our patients and staff, as well as potential new patients from the local community would benefit from a dental practice that can offer parent/child/disabled parking and access.

“The proposal is for a larger premises with a dedicated waiting room and separate reception, affording patients more privacy when organising appointments and completing medical forms.

“A larger waiting room would have space for a kids play area to keep our younger patients entertained as they wait for their appointment.”

Following safety concerns there are plans for staff-only parking to the left of the property with disabled and parent child to the right. Parking will also be available on the side streets.

A decision on whether or not to grant the application will be made in due course.
