EIGHT Glasgow bartenders have made it to the top 100 in a competition deigned to test their skill.

The group have made it through to the next stage of the Diageo Reserve contest, which saw them perform a 'Tartan Tiki' serve - a drink integrating Talisker 10-year-old Scotch into a tiki-style serve, demonstrating inspiration from Britain and showcasing British flavours.

Following the in-bar judging, the top 100 will be whittled down to 20, who will then come together to compete for the crown of GB World Class Bartender of the Year 2019, before representing GB in the World Class Global Final hosted in Glasgow later this year.

The contestants are as follows: Andrew Gray from the Finnieston Bar &Restaurant; Conor Moncrieff fro Cail Bruich; Jamie Moran from Wheesht; Liam Scott from the Corinthian Club; Liam Gorgan from the Tiki Bar & Kitsch Inn; Tom Wishart from The Amsterdam and Vasili Panagopoulos from Kelvingrove Cafe.

The winner will nab a tour of Diageo owned distilleries, a bar tending shift in a European city and Cocktail Kingdom bar tools and equipment.
