THEY are a Scottish family favourite for mealtimes and snacks – and now English youngsters will get to enjoy munching on Wee Willie Winkie's too.

Asda has revealed a six-figure deal with Hall's of Scotland to stock the famous sausage in 28 English stores for the first time.

They are already sold in 60 Asda branches across Scotland and now the new deal will see an extra 100,000 produced each week - making the total weekly production more than one million.

June Rose, brand account manager at Hall’s of Scotland, said: "The Wee Willie Winkie brand is a Scottish household favourite, so we’re thrilled to be taking the famous kids' sausages south of the border.

"The sausages offer a quick, convenient and versatile meal time food for children, that even adults can enjoy.

"We’re already one of the UK’s best-selling children’s sausage brands, so we’re confident Wee Willie Winkie’s will be well received by customers in English stores."

Originally inspired by a nursery rhyme, Hall’s has been producing the Wee Willie Winkie sausages at their Prestwick factory since 2008.

The brand now makes more than 52 million sausages annually.
