GLASGOW is set to sizzle this Easter weekend.

Good Friday is expected to be the hottest of the bank holiday weekend, despite a reasonably chilly start to the day with highs of 7C.

As it reaches the afternoon, there will be highs of 22C inland with 17C expected to be the peak towards the coast.

Met Office forecasters said: "Any patchy low cloud to the east of Glasgow soon clearing, otherwise a dry day with long sunny spells, although the sunshine may be rather hazy at times.

"Warm or very warm with mainly light winds. Maximum temperature 22 °C."

These glorious temperatures mean the city will be hotter than several top getaway spots throughout Europe, with the likes of Malta, Barcelona, Salou and Magaluf falling behind.

Met Office forecasters say the good weather will continue throughout the weekend, although it's not expected to be as warm.

Maximum temperatures for Sunday and Monday look to be around 20C.
