A new mural has sprung up in Edinburgh paying tribute to Bradley Welsh.

The mural, near Easter Road in the Capital, pays tribute to the former boxer who was shot outside his home on Chester Street.

The Trainspotting 2 actor was shot in the head just outside his home, dying at the scene.

The stencilled mural, which has popped up on Crawford Bridge, pays tribute to his boxing club, showing Welsh in a hoody with his boxing club logo featured. 

A picture of the mural was posted on Twitter by @Kev_Hibs_07 who wrote: "Respect is due! To my mate, your mate and Edinburgh’s Son. #YouWillBeMissed #Brad #BridgeOfDoomTribute"

Irvine Welsh paid tribute to the former boxer yesterday as news of his death emerged. 

Taking to social media, the Trainspotting writer said: "Bradley John Welsh, my heart is broken. Goodbye, my amazing and beautiful friend. Thanks for making me a better person and helping me to see the world in a kinder and wiser way."

According to reports in the Edinburgh Evening News, floral tributes and message of support have also been laid at the scene of the murder as well as at Welsh's Holyrood Boxing Gym.
