FORENSIC teams are combing through a street in Thornliebank after a man died following a late night disturbance.

As the Evening Times previously reported, emergency services raced to Roukenburn Street around 10.20pm last night amid reports a man had been seriously injured.

The 33-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are treating his death as suspicious.

Part of the south side street remains closed off as police continue their enquiries into the incident.

Forensic teams can be seen scouring the site near to St Vincen't Primary for clues as officers try to piece together what happened to the man.

One neighbour told the Evening Times she came out of her home around 10.30pm to see flashing lights and a police helicopter overhead.

She said: “I could see them working on him on the ground. I don’t know what happened to him.

“There were so many people out on the street, there was a huge crowd.

“It’s so sad, I know the family. I know his mum.”

A police spokeswoman said: "Officers were called to a report of a 33-year-old man seriously injured following a disturbance in Roukenburn Street. Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A post mortem examination will take place to establish the exact cause of death, which officers are treating as suspicious at this time.

"Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
